REMA1000 works to create an efficient supply chain to become more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The retail chain’s CSR-strategy is based on taking responsibility and creating awareness of their surroundings, which applies to people, products, environment and society.
REMA1000’s motto ‘RESPONSIBILITY – smarter, simplier, healthier, happier’ is put this into practice by e.g. reducing transportation, focusing on healthier choices for the consumers through the initiatives dinner planning and more transparency to product content.
Dinner planning is a collaboration between the chefs of Bocuse d’Or Norge and nutritionist Cathrine Borchsenius to make it easy to grocery shop for the whole week securing healthy, high quality food with a high nutriational value.
Regarding transportation REMA1000 works to reduce its CO2 emissions through the optimization of routes, environmentally responsible driving and use of trains, whenever possible. Furthermore they’ve developed Norway’s most environmentally friendly grocery store that uses the daylight to reduce its energy consumption.
Besides this REMA1000 contribute through different initiatives such as reducing waste and making it easier for customers to choose healthy and locally produced food.In 2013 REMA1000 won the CSR Awards Partnership Prize for their efforts to reduce food waste.
